Founded in 1973, Ever’man Cooperative’s mission is to create a more healthy, vibrant community by offering wholesome, nutritious food at a reasonable cost. The new location located in Pensacola continues this mission by offering an 11,000 SF sales floor, full-service deli, seafood and meat preparation and service counters, fresh fruit cutting station, and a commercial kitchen with walk-in coolers and freezers. The project design also includes a 900 square-foot community room with a general-purpose meeting space and demonstration kitchen used for organic cooking classes.
Dell Consulting designed a distributed low voltage lighting control system that incorporated custom linear fixtures, high efficiency track lighting, and striking outdoor fixtures that accents the store’s stunning architecture while allowing the Coop to highlight products, lounge areas, and food bars. The electrical design also included an Optional Standby System with a 360kW diesel generator with a sub-base fuel tank. The generator supports all lighting, sales floor, and refrigeration systems, enabling the store to safely remain operational and open to customers in the event of a normal power failure.
Plumbing design services including sanitary and grease waste systems, water heating and distribution, as well as reverse osmosis (RO) and filtered water, storm water drainage, and gas systems. A recirculating hot water system was designed to quickly provide hot water though out the store for cleaning, food preparation and hand washing. A gas-fired condensing water heater and an additional heat recovery tank, utilizing waste heat from the grocery’s refrigerated cases, were incorporated to match the varied demand in an energy efficient manner. Natural gas service was provided to serve kitchen equipment, water heating, as well as indoor and outdoor fireplaces.
