USA Health Physical Outpatient Building

This new construction project of 90,000 sq ft provides three floors of outpatient healthcare services for USA Health in Mobile, Alabama. Spaces include waiting areas, exam rooms, pharmacy, laboratory work areas, breakrooms, training/conference rooms, offices, and an imaging suite.

Engineering design services consisted of mechanical, electrical, voice evacuation fire alarm system, plumbing, fire protection, and information technology systems. The Fire Alarm system is interconnected via fiber connection to the Main Campus Central Control for monitoring and reporting.

The building is cooled by a high-efficiency chilled water plant consisting of two 200-ton air-cooled chillers. Chilled water is provided to multiple indoor central station air handling units by three 20 hp variable-primary pumps in an N+1 configuration. Heating is provided by two 1,500 MBH gas-fired, condensing hot water boilers. Three 7.5 hp variable-primary pumps are piped in an N+1 configuration and provide hot water to heating coils at zoned variable air volume terminal units. Indoor air quality is enhanced by UVc lamps and bipolar ionization within air distribution systems.

The building electrical systems are supplied from the campus 12,470 medium voltage distribution. The building is a 480Y277 volt supply with 208Y120 volt distribution for typical office configurations and utilization. The building is provided with an emergency generator to support the facility upon loss of normal power. The lighting for the facility is 277-volt LED lighting throughout controlled in accordance with ASHRAE 90.1 energy compliance guidelines. The facility is provided with a complete Voice Evacuation Fire Alarm System. Telecommunications and information technology is typical for a Medical Office Facility with Fiber backbone to interconnect this facility with other University Facilities.
