UWF Health and Wellness Center

The Design Objective for this 1,800 SF addition and partial renovations was to provide a Counseling and Psychological annex with a standalone reception/waiting area, 6 Therapy rooms, Conference Room and a Wellness Office.

    • Location:  University of West Florida, Pensacola, FL
    • Project Size:  1,800 SF
    • Cost: $4,200,000
    • Facility Type: Higher Education / Sports & Recreation
    • Owner: University of West Florida
    • Services:  Electrical and Mechanical/Plumbing Engineer

These functions were provided by building out the existing roof garden, enclosing the area with new roof and infill exterior openings with windows. Hurricane Michael created a regional price increase for materials and labor. A Value Engineering effort was done along with the UWF contractor and the User group and an alternative design and exterior materials were developed to keep the project within budget. The alternative design created a shell space within the build-out while also meeting the initial programmatic requirements.

The mechanical design work included pressure independent VAV terminals with hydronic reheat, new hydronic air handler and exhaust design for restrooms and other affected spaces. The design team also worked within the defining systems of the original LEED Gold certified facility ensuring that the certification would not be compromised.
