Walton County Schools Assessments

Dell Consulting conducted detailed on-site assessments of existing mechanical system components at the Maude Saunders Elementary School and The WISE Center, in Defuniak Springs, Florida, which also included a detailed assessment of existing mechanical system components at the Van R. Butler School in Santa Rosa Beach Florida.

    • Location:  DeFuniack Springs, FL
    • Project Size: Assessment of 4 Schools
    • Facility Type: K-12 Schools
    • Owner: Walton County School District
    • Services:  Mechanical Engineer

This effort included the evaluation of conditions and serviceability of existing systems and components and provided detailed recommendations and estimated costs for repairs and replacements.

Roofing and mechanical issues at these facilities have been a long-standing problem for the School District that is dealt with continuously. Low-slope roof installations and exterior mechanical equipment components are at the end of their serviceable lifespan and in need of replacement. Increasing maintenance repair-related costs and energy consumption are influencing factors, as is the current industry phase-out of the R-22 refrigerant used in all three facilities’ mechanical systems.

The goal was to identify and prioritize areas and equipment in need of replacement and/or upgrades.  Each assessment report outlined existing system conditions and included recommendations with cost estimates to assist with future project development.
