Electrical Engineering

Dell Consulting employs experienced electrical engineers who understand the importance of balancing cost, reliability, and flexibility for future growth. Our ability to listen and collaborate with owners, architects, and facility staff helps us deliver a design that unites aesthetics and function.

We believe in partnering with our clients throughout the entire project from the beginning design concepts through construction to the finish line.  We strive to document all key elements for a complete engineering design, helping avoid surprises later in the project.  We value the importance of working with installing contractors to ensure the constructability of our design.

Power
The Dell team has current and relevant experience in design of electrical power systems, from the most complex power generation systems to the simplest electrical distribution systems. All designs comply with the latest applicable Codes, specifically the National Electrical Code (NEC). Dell Consulting is regularly involved in designing power systems with the following features:

  • Medium Voltage Distribution
  • Medium Voltage Coordination Studies
  • Emergency Generation
  • Co-Generation
  • Uninterruptable Power Supplies
  • N+1, N+2 Power Distribution Systems
  • Photovoltaic Power Systems
  • Low Voltage Power Distribution
  • Over-Current Protection Coordination Studies
  • Arc-Flash Hazard Analysis and Reports
  • Short Circuit Analysis
  • Voltage Drop Calculations and Reports

Lighting
The standard project incorporates lighting design. The Dell design team utilizes the latest lighting design software to simulate and model the actual lighting conditions for the project. Space-by-space reports are generated for recording photometric and power density information. This attention to detail ensures every space is correctly illuminated while maximizing energy efficiency.   If desired by the client, daylight harvesting, automatic scene controls, dimming, occupancy sensing, or other control functions can be integrated into the design. In addition, all projects are reviewed by the team for compliance with the latest Energy Conservation Codes.

Lighting projects include:

  • Office lighting
  • Retail lighting
  • Theatrical lighting
  • Sports Field lighting
  • Parking Lot lighting
  • Roadway lighting

Fire Alarm / Mass Notification
Dell Consulting has provided fire alarm and mass notification design for a wide array of healthcare, commercial, educational, and governmental facilities. All designs are prepared in accordance with the latest edition of the applicable Building Code and design standards.   Our team’s experience ranges from fire alarm/mass notification systems for the Department of Defense to high-rise buildings to large campus multi-building projects incorporating central fire management systems.

Other Systems
Dell Consulting analyzes each project as defined in NFPA 780 to determine the need for lightning protection. Complete lightning protection design documents and specifications are provided as needed for each project. Our team can also provide assistance in considering alternate means of protection from abnormal events on the power distribution system.  Surge Protection Devices, Lightning Arrestor Systems, and Uninterruptable Power Sources and Power Conditioners are a few of the options considered to suit client’s special requirements.
